I was pleased to receive a 50g jar of Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream to trial because I remember using this moisturiser in the past so I was more than willing to see what effect it would have on my skin a few years down the track. The moisturiser is packaged in a stylish, deep red jar with a silver screw top lid. The silky, white cream has a medium consistency and a very pleasant but subtle fragrance. I have dry skin so I’m always after a product that will hydrate and soften my skin. I’ve been using this cream all over my face and neck for the past 3 weeks. This light cream spreads smoothly and evenly over my skin. The cream absorbs well and leaves my face and neck feeling well hydrated with a nice healthy glow. The Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream does its job as a moisturiser, leaving my skin looking and feeling plump, soft and hydrated, and I can honestly say it is gradually minimising the appearance of my fine lines and wrinkles.

I started using Neutrogena Visible Repair Retinol Eye Cream about two weeks ago. The eye cream is packaged in a small silver tube which holds a generous 15g of product. The tube makes it easy to control how much of the product to use, compared to a little pot or dropper that can get a bit messy. All that is needed is a little squeeze of the eye cream onto a finger and then gently pat the cream around the entire eye area. This tube is going to last a long time. I have used the eye cream morning and night for the past two weeks and I can honestly say the fine lines and dark circles are far less visible. The skin around my eyes looks so much smoother and brighter and my eye lids look dewy, smooth and plump. I’ve used a different Neutrogena eye cream in the past which I was very happy with, but the Visible Repair Retinol Eye Cream outshines that one.

I received the Remington ONE Straight & Curl Styler at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event where I was able to watch a demonstration of the hair tool being used on beautyheaven members. Although I straighten my hair every second day, I don’t curl it because it is too short, so I am basing my review more on the straightening rather than the curling aspect. The first thing I noticed after unboxing was the weight of the hair tool which is a lot heavier than my current straightener. I found choosing the styling mode and selecting the heat setting I wanted was easy and straightforward. I’m pleased that there is a range of heat settings from 150-230°C because my hair prefers the lower temperatures around 150-170°C. I also like that I don’t have to wait long for the plates to heat up. I find the straightener is easy enough to use and I’m able to achieve sleek, smooth results without effort. I also appreciate the styling glove for protection and the storage bag as nice little additions to the pack.

I received a bottle of Dr. Wolff’s V-san Intimate Wash Lotion at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. The wash is packaged in a 200ml plastic bottle with a flip-top lid. I don’t feel the need to use a separate wash for my intimate area but nevertheless I’ve been using it during my daily showers. The wash has a pleasant scent, foams to a nice lather and is non-irritating. It is a gentle cleanser that doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry, but soft and moisturised. Basically, I’m just using the wash as an all over cleanser without having to switch between body wash and intimate wash. The wash rinses well and leaves my skin feeling clean and smelling good.

I received a Lonvitalite Platinum Contour Roller at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. I’ve never used a contour roller before, so I was interested to see what a difference it made to my skin. This beauty tool is quite weighty, it has an elegant, curved handle with large rollers, and it sits comfortably in my hand. I use a facial oil prior to using the contour roller and I love how the multi-angular roller moves effortlessly over my skin. I concentrate on my jaw line, my cheek bones, around my eyes, across my lips and over my neck. I use outward and upward strokes depending on the area I’m focusing on. I don’t have any puffiness but I’m keen to see what improvements my daily massage will make to my fine lines after I’ve been using the contour roller over the next couple of months. So far, I’m loving how relaxed I feel when using the roller and how smooth and firm it makes my skin feel.

I received a Burt’s Bees Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. The lip balm is packaged as a wind-up tube which makes it easy to apply, just like a lipstick, with no mess. I tend to use more lip balms these days than I do lipstick because I find them more hydrating. I also prefer the buttery balms because I feel the buttery balms melt into my lips rather sit on top. This particular lip balm is made with more butters than waxes and provides more comfort and protection. It is deeply nourishing and keeps my lips feeling soft and supple. The balm glides on easily, absorbs well and isn’t sticky or greasy.

I received a tube of Plantur 39 Conditioner for Coloured and Stressed Hair at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. The conditioner is packaged in a bright green squeezy tube with a flip top lid and contains 150ml of product. The conditioner has a lovely citrusy scent. My hair is salon coloured every six weeks, so I work on keeping it well hydrated to combat any dryness. I was interested in comparing this conditioner to my usual conditioner for coloured hair. After first using a Plantur 39 shampoo which left my hair feeling thick and strong I then applied the conditioner which I left on for a couple of minutes. After rinsing out the conditioner, my hair was left feeling silky smooth and soft. I then used my usual heat protectant spray. Blow drying and styling my hair was a breeze and I had added volume and shine which is always a bonus. I was pleased to see that my hair was easy to manage and felt clean in-between washes. I really like this conditioner because I think it is well suited to my hair.

I received a bottle of Plantur 39 Phyto-Caffeine Shampoo for Fine Brittle Hair at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. This is a shampoo for hair over forty and the claims are that the shampoo helps hair feel stronger. My hair is fine but it’s not brittle, nor is it thin. The shampoo has a lovely citrusy scent. I decided to wash my hair the same way I would using my usual shampoo, disregarding the suggestion to ‘leave on the scalp for 2 minutes – from application to rinse’. The first application worked up to a lovely foamy lather, and after rinsing thoroughly I then did my second wash. Again, only a small amount of shampoo was needed to achieve another foamy lather. I found it more difficult to rinse out the shampoo compared to my usual shampoo, however once I’d done a thorough rinse, my hair felt clean and thick, but not something I could easily glide my fingers through. I then applied a Plantur 39 conditioner which completely changed the texture of my hair to silky smooth and soft. I wash my hair every second day and in-between washes my scalp didn’t feel at all itchy (which it can sometimes do) and my hair remained looking and feeling super clean. I’ve had my eye on trying the Plantur 39 range for a while, and now I’m pleased I’ve had the opportunity to do so.

I received a Remington ONE Dry & Styler Hairdryer at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. I wondered whether I really needed another hairdryer seeing that I already have five, but I soon had my answer once I’d used the hairdryer. The weight of the hairdryer is about the same as my current hairdryer, but the compact design makes it so much easier to use and gives me more control. The shorter barrel and handle feel more comfortable in my hands and the buttons are easier to reach if I want to change the settings while I’m using the hairdryer. The power is unbelievable. Even though my hair is short it normally takes forever to dry because it retains so much moisture but I’m now drying and styling my hair in half the time. The styling attachments are easy to put on and take off – my favourite being the extra wide slim styling concentrator which smooths my hair and reduces the time it takes to straighten my hair. There are just so many aspects of this hairdryer that I love from the amazing performance to the lovely storage bag. This little beauty will be my new travel companion and will be getting a real workout.

I received a bottle of John Frieda Frizz Ease Extra Strength Serum at the recent Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. The serum is packaged in a small, slender, plastic bottle with a pump top. I like that the bottle is clear so I can see how much product is left. I’m familiar with the John Frieda Frizz Ease range because I’ve been using the Styling Spray for quite some time, but I hadn’t previously used the serum. The serum is designed for thick, course hair which I don’t have so I’ve only been using a small amount on my fine hair. I love that this serum protects my hair from heat and humidity, and that I have the option to use it on wet or dry hair. I focus on using a small amount on my towel-dried hair after washing and prior to blow drying. Although I have short hair it needs taming, and this serum provides good control and a beautiful shine. I like that this bottle is so compact because it is a fabulous size to pop into my haircare bag when travelling.
